5 Things We Love In Marketing Right Now

Part of our ongoing education and business development at 11CS involves examining the world of marketing as a whole. Who is doing what well? Where are they doing it? How are they doing it?

Today, we're talking about a few of our favorite things in the industry currently and sharing them here on the Eleven Creative Services blog. Watch the video below to learn what we're loving now.

State Street Global Advisors: Just in time for International Women's Day, the investment company executed a timely and well-produced PR stunt. They placed a statue of a "fearless girl" standing up to the bull statue on Wall Street. According to a statement issued by the company, the stunt was a way to call "on companies to take concrete steps to increase gender diversity on their boards and [they] issued clear guidance to help them begin to take action.”

Big Ass Fans: When your name says it all. Not only does this company make a great product, they also do a great job at making you care about industrial fans. Their Facebook content is engaging and fun, partly because they frequently post their "hate mail" for all to see. They did a great job of turning a negative into a positive, and gaining lots of engagement in the process.

Girlfriend Collective: Leading up to the launch of their product "girlfriend leggings," the company launched a nearly year-long campaign to give away free luxury leggings. All the user had to pay for was shipping. Using aspirational marketing techniques, feminine, "cool-girl" imagery, and minimal copy, their Facebook ads went viral, as did their free leggings offer. Now, with over 46,000 Facebook fans, over 55,000 Instagram followers, and likely hundreds of thousands of emails, Girlfriend Collective has firmly placed themselves as a must-have for yoga pants aficionados.

Rumpl: Embracing the spirit of the adventure-seeking #vanlife culture that has taken over Instagram feeds and reality shows everywhere, Rumpl has cleverly used content marketing and influencer marketing to create an aspirational lifestyle around their brand. With minimal copy, few calls to action, and plenty of eye-catching imagery, Rumpl has found a way to make their posts stand out by blending in with users' feeds.

Instagram Slideshow Feature: The newest update to the Instagram App allows users to upload up to 10 images into a single post. This can include photos, videos, or a combination of the two. We think the slideshow feature is great for brands because it allows them to tell a story without cluttering their feed as a whole. For example, you can share a photo of your event, along with user-generated content all in a single post. You could also get creative by using graphic overlays and text to create a progressive story, or by using a series of videos.
